Indigo Software Releases Industry-First ENUM Redirect Server
Based on NetNumber Technology

Industry-first implementation to be showcased as only ENUM-enabled Redirect facility
at Fall 2001 VON SIPop! event.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA and LOWELL, MA - October 15, 2001 - Indigo Software, a leader in the development of SIP-based network infrastructure, today announced at Fall 2001 Voice On the NetTM, the release of its ENUM-compliant Indigo SIP Redirect ServerTM. Working with NetNumber, the world's first commercial ENUM registry operator, Indigo's ENUM redirect server is capable of querying for IP endpoints using telephone numbers on behalf of SIP user agents, proxy servers, location servers and application servers. This is performed via ENUM lookups in NetNumber's ENUM service registries.

The Indigo ENUM redirect server will be showcased at Fall VON 2001 SIPop!, an event designed to publicly demonstrate interoperability between generally available SIP products. According to Edward Keegan, Head of Business Development at Indigo Software, "ENUM is clearly seen as an essential network registry facility, allowing the robust application features of SIP to extend across service provider domains. Working with NetNumber has been critical to properly embed ENUM-query capabilities within the context of our standards-compliant SIP redirect server."

"We were delighted to work with an industry leader such as Indigo," said Glenn Marschel, CEO of NetNumber. "They are the first SIP solution vendor to offer a redirect platform that meets our integration and testing requirements. As such, we are very pleased to announce them as our first approved SIP redirect server vendor."

According to Nathan Straton, CTO of Exario Networks, "There's a definite lack of ENUM-compliant SIP products in the industry. We at Exario Networks believe SIP's feature capabilities shouldn't be isolated within a single carrier. Therefore, it's critical to have a registry mechanism such as ENUM to maximize the occurrence of end-to-end SIP across service provider domains."
