STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 22, 2000 - Demonstrating its technological leadership and initiative in the mushrooming market for integrated communications solutions, Indigo Software presented its ensemble of SIP-based applications in the warm atmosphere of the VON Europe 2000 Conference and Exhibition. The largest Voice-over-IP exhibition in Europe to date, the event attracted a broad cross-section of the telecommunications industry and stimulated particular interest in emerging SIP solutions.
SIP is an Internet-genuineTM protocol used to establish any person-to-person sessions over IP networks and is the catalyst for the introduction of mixed-media applications that include voice, video, chat, presence and instant messaging blended with Web and Email services. Having steadily progressed through early stages to reach Proposed Standard status, SIP is now one of the flagships of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the body charged with setting down Internet standards. Simultaneously, SIP's flexible and interoperable properties led to its rapid take up by visionary Internet communications software designers and service providers.
"We can identify a clearly defined trend towards the open, Internet-friendly SIP protocol and away from the earlier, inappropriate protocols in which the VoIP industry was floundering for too long," said Emmanuel Bertrand, CEO and CTO of Indigo Software.
SIP-based communications systems are further empowered by complementary IETF developments, particularly the Call Processing Language (CPL) which gives the end-user the unique ability to customize and configure his own Internet telephony services. CPL is a prime working example of the power of lightweight scripting techniques applied to Internet telephony. These techniques are primarily built on the Extensible Markup Language (XML), itself an expansion of HTML. Anticipated to follow the ground-breaking example of HTML that opened web page creation to a wide community, CPL will generate a flood of previously unimagined Internet communications services into the network.
The Indigo CPL EditorTM and Indigo CPL ServerTM are genuine service creation vehicles which come into their own when linked to an Indigo SIP User AgentTM and Indigo SIP ServerTM. Besides furnishing the end-user with extensive control over his communications services, Indigo CPL products address the needs of customer-responsive service providers by supplying them with the latest tools to meet the expectations of their client base.
Indigo Software's CPL Editor and Server were noteworthy performers during the VON industry gathering. "Indigo Software's applications represent advanced achievements and reflect the current industry shift to SIP standard," said Jeff Pulver, VON conferences organizer and recognized VoIP guru. "I was delighted and impressed by what's happening on the European scene."
"Indigo Software's participation at VON was not a glass-case presentation, but a hands-on, practical demonstration of SIP implementations with proven success," commented Edward Keegan, Business Development, Indigo Software.
